Application Details
Description
T1 Sycamore - Fell to ground level. Reasons: The tree is structurally compromised with a combination of a heavily decayed stem and included main stem unions. There is some concern that these defects coalesce with the extensive cavity extending upwards within the eastern stem, to form a more significant point of structural weakness. Furthermore, the removal of the former outbuilding in the recent past has left the tree somewhat exposed to directional wind forces from which it was previously afforded shelter, has compounded the situation, likely placing additional stresses on these structurally compromised areas. The details and particulars contained in the supporting tree management & liability report refer. After careful consideration of the matters and management options detailed in the aforementioned report, and the liabilities, on-going risk management responsibility, and not inconsiderable financial burden that retention of the sycamore places upon its owners, the Management Company members, in consultation with the property insurance company, have determined that on balance, the uncertainties associated with the retention of a structurally compromised tree with a significantly reduced amenity contribution, represents an unreasonable liability and financial burden upon them, and have unanimously voted to act pragmatically to remove and replace the tree at this stage. Replacement planting: 1no. 180/240cm 35l container grown sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). To be planted in the front communal garden in the vicinity of, but not on, the felling site.
