T1 - Horse Chestnut: - Excavation will be required within the Root Protection area of a Horse Chestnut Tree (T1). To mitigate impact to tree roots, hand dug trial holes under supervision of an arborist watching brief will take place to assess the extent of the roots. The outcome of the trial holes will determine what mitigation is required as advised by the Arborist; this is likely to be the use of Air Vac/Air Spade technologies to minimise root disturbance. Expert advice from the arborist will be followed by the construction team when working close to T1. - To allow construction vehicles to access the working area 1m of crown lifting will be required to T1. This will involve cutting branches back by 1m. No Primary limbs are to be affected, 30-40mm of secondary limbs and 10-15mm of Tertiary limbs are to be cut back. The area to be affected on T1 is specified in annotated photograph. It is also worth noting that following the site survey it was noted that the Horse Chestnut may be suffering from Horse Chestnut leaf blotch disease. This information has been passed on to the appointed Arborist working on the scheme, so they are also aware (See image). T2 - Cherry: - A small Cherry Tree (T2) located opposite the Nursery will require 1m of branch to be cut back. No primary limbs are to be affected, 30-40m of secondary limbs and 10-15mm of tertiary limb to be cut back as per annotated photograph. This will allow construction vehicles to pass through the working area. To summarise, when carrying out the tree works to T1 and T2 expert advice from a qualified Arborist will be followed by the contractors carrying out the work and all measures will be taken to minimise any potential disturbance to these trees. An assigned Ecologist to the scheme will also be providing ecological advice and mitigation to ensure protected species (e.g. nesting birds) are not impacted by the tree works.
