Description

Mixed use development proposal including the retention and refurbishment of the existing Bessbrook Mill complex. Works to the Mill complex and associated structures within it’s curtilage include for: • Upgrade and adaptation of existing Mill building for the proposed development; • Retention and incorporation of the existing blast wall within the Mill complex; • Partial demolition and removal of the existing weaving sheds and associated outbuildings; • Alterations and part removal of the existing boundary wall along Derrymore Road; • Demolition of the existing ruin located to the western aspect of the Mill complex; • Demolition of the existing British Legion building. The provision of a total of 41 no. new-build residential dwellings and 223 No. Apartments of which 167 to be provided within the existing Mill Building which is to be refurbished and adapted to facilitate the residential use with associated works including provision of an additional storey to the Mill building. The Mill Building to incorporate 3 no. office units and Gym. The development will also include the provision of a retail unit and associated facilities to include storage building, a refuse/ waste storage building and a temporary waste water treatment works (WWTW) Associated site works will include provision of car parking, connection to existing services, provision of internal access roads, installation of a new culvert and entrance point via Derrymore Road to facilitate access along with ancillary site landscaping works (Amended proposal and plans)
