Description
REAR: ONE Ornamental Cherry tree (T1)(approx.ht.12m) FELL to ground level.REASON: The tree has been affected by wood-boring beetle infestation for several years and is now in significant decline. Extensive decay is present throughout the tree, and a number of the upper scaffold branches are dead, structurally weak, and potentially hazardous due to the risk of branch failure.REPLANTING PROPOSAL: In addition, a younger replacement tree is already naturally establishing nearby. Removal of the declining cherry tree would improve light availability and provide better growing conditions for the developing tree. The condition of the tree has deteriorated to the point where retention is no longer considered practical or safe.Informative A: huge thank you for already establishing a replacement tree for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative B: please retain a safe standing stem or high stump and use arisings to create habitat log piles to retain dead and decay wood in the garden for wildlife and biodiversity. Informative C: The Bat Conservation Trust advises checking thoroughly for roosting bats before and during tree works with soft fell process followed to proceed with care and with cut timber left grounded over night to allow any bats to make their way out, tree works ideally during Sept/Oct to avoid maternity and hibernation seasons when bats are most vulnerable to disturbance.
