Duty to replace applies.Reason: tree began leaning, arborist called to inspect and was going to return to support the tree but the tree fell over w/e (31 Jan / 1 Feb) due to age 50yrs+, fungal bracket and very wet ground from heavy rainfall this winter. Informative A: the landowner has a duty to plant another tree of an appropriate size and species when a tree is removed in a conservation area because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm. Informative B: replacement species such as: crab apple, hazel, hawthorn, elder, alder buckthorn, holly, bird cherry, pear, purple plum. Informative C: replacement tree planting is important for rear amenity, wildlife, wellbeing, environmental benefits such as and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative D: please create habitat log piles with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity and leave stump / roots in the as habitat and food for the endangered stag beetle which has a stronghold in SE London.
