REAR: ONE dead tree (ht.5-6m) FELL. Duty to replace applies. Reason: possibly a crab apple tree, dead and leaning; re-planting proposed when the stump / roots have rotted a bit we will be planting a new tree in its place, probably after just summer, the branches facing our garden have slowly rotted off (photos attached) and there are multiple small animal burrows and a big one (1.5inch diameter) at the base, through the tree.Informative A: the landowner has a duty to plant another tree of an appropriate size and species when a tree is removed in a conservation area because it is dead or presents an immediate risk of serious harm. Ref. Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, guidance, para 121.Informative B: huge thank you for proposed replacement tree planting, suggest a similar berry or fruit bearing tree such as: crab apple, Amelanchier, hawthorn, elder, common pear, wayfaring tree for rear amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change. Informative C: please plant the replacement tree in an alternative location in order to retain a safe standing deadwood stem for wildlife and biodiversity and if possible also create habitat log piles with arisings. A climber could be planted to grow on the dead stem such as honeysuckle, clematis, rose, ivy.
