REAR: ONE Lime (T1)(ht.13m) FELL. Reason: decayed stem, hollow from the ground level base up to the crown break at around 4m, vitality is poor and tree in significant decline, replanting with a Liquidambar, nursery stock size 1.75m-2m tall (approx 6 feet) ? see informative below re alternative replacement species.Informative A: please leave as much as possible of the lime tree (T1) standing by retaining safe standing stem with bark crevices and decay cavity for wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Informative B: the Bat Conservation Trust advises checking thoroughly for roosting bats before and during tree works with soft fell process followed to proceed with care and with cut timber left grounded over night to allow any bats to make their way out, tree works ideally during Sept/Oct to avoid maternity and hibernation seasons when bats are most vulnerable to disturbance. Informative C: the replacement tree planting is greatly appreciated, alternative species includes sessile oak, Turkey oak, Japanese Pagoda Tree, Indian Horse Chestnut, Golden Rain Tree/Pride of India (Koelreuteria paniculata), Katsura (Cercidiphyllum japonicum), wild service tree. Informative D: huge thank you for retaining T2 for rear amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce increasingly high summer temperatures due to climate change.
