REAR (no.92,94): ROOT BARRIER GROUND EXCAVATION and associated severance of roots across centre of rear gardens of nos.92,94, including 1m wide haul route within the edge of TPO woodland (W1), rear of gardens nos.88,90,92, no tree removal proposed. Reason: to install root barrier (20m in length/ 3.5m deep) and isolate house no.94, with subsidence issue in left flank of rear projection, from roots originating from trees in adjacent TPO woodland (W1), any roots found during excavation of the root barrier trench to be pruned making a clean cut with a suitable sharp tool (eg bypass secateurs or hand saw), ref.para 7.2.2. BS 5837:2012 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction. (Revision of similar TPO application ref. DC/23/131906 for root barrier across rear gardens nos.92,94,96 ? not implemented).The London Borough of Lewisham Land at the rear of 66-114 Buckthorne Road and adjacent to 8 Courtrai Road, London, SE4 Tree Preservation Order, 1997.Informative A: use of a compact, flexible, copper impregnated root barrier is hugely appreciated to manage property structural issues and retain trees. Sycamore (T5) and oak (T6) are in the woodland TPO (W1) known as Gore Wood which is ancient woodland and part of the Metropolitan Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (MSINC) extending from Forest Hill to New Cross Gate. Retention of the trees will benefit rear amenity, urban forest canopy, linear green infrastructure, wellbeing, wildlife and mitigate climate change and biodiversity emergencies.Informative B: the root barrier and 1m wide haul route are to be carried out in accordance with the revised Tree Protection Plans (TPP) dated 11.9.25: dwg nos. 03993P_TPP_01 Rev C and 03993P_TPP_02 Rev C and revised Optera Statement of Works for installation of a compact root barrier dated 18 September 2025.Informative C: before any works granted by the council are carried out, prior consent and any permissions must be obtained from all landowners, including the owner of TPO woodland (W1) for the proposed haul route within the TPO woodland.
