FRONT: ONE dead Horse Chestnut (T11, T12 in TPO)(ht.13m) FELL to 1m stump. Reason: the tree has died, located in playground, nr entrance gate on Jerningham Road, to fell to 1m stump and replace with a large canopy tree as agreed in agents email 5 September 2024 to retain the treed boundary character of the school site and landscape amenity.- see condition 2 below for replacement tree species, planting details and maintenance.REAR: ONE London Plane (T21)(ht.18-20m) remove deadwood (exempt works). Reason: routine safety management to retain the tree by the playground and main building.London Borough of Lewisham (Haberdashers Askes Hatcham School) Tree Preservation Order 1980.Informative A: huge appreciation that Catalpha (T22,T16 in TPO) felled due to extensive decay and increasing lean ref DC/22/129150 is agreed in applicants email 5 September 2024, to be replaced with a Catalpha near the original location by the west boundary of the playground opposite the Jerningham Road main entrance gate, to retain the treed boundary character of the school site and landscape amenity.Informative B: retaining a 1m stump from the dead Horse Chestnut (T11,T12 in TPO) together with the already retained stump of the Catalpha (T22,T16 in TPO), is greatly welcomed for wildlife habitat and biodiversity, and encourage retention on site of the felled stem of dead Horse Chestnut (T11,T12 in TPO) with creation of habitat log piles from arisings to enhance further wildlife and biodiversity benefits within the school grounds.Condition 2: Dead Horse Chestnut (T11, T12 in TPO) is to be replaced by a large canopy tree, species to be selected from: Tulip Tree, Liquidambar, Indian Horse Chestnut, Italian alder, small leaved lime, sessile oak, Robinia, Norway maple, beech, field maple, wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis), wingnut, Hop Hornbeam, Japanese pagoda tree, Hackberry (Celtis australis). Reason: to retain the treed boundary character of the school site and landscape amenity.
