REAR: ONE Magnolia (T4)(ht.3m) FELL. Reason: clay shrinkage subsidence damage at the property.Informative A: replacement planting is supported as mentioned in Addendum Arboricultural Report rev.01 Conclusions p.6, further away from the building at the end of the rear garden. Informative B: London Plane street trees on Pepys Road are highly significant to streetscape amenity, wellbeing and urban forest environmental benefits. Preference is to avoid felling the hugely significant front street tree T2. In view of the slight damage Category 2 (see Addendum Arboricultural Report, end of p.2), structural intervention such as underpinning or copper impregnated root barrier is encouraged for consideration rather than further felling for arboricultural mitigation. Alternative mitigation may also provide better long-term resilience to subsidence on clay soils with predicted hotter, drier summers due to climate change.
