Description

REAR: ONE Copper Beech (T1)(ht.20m) FELL and replace. Reason: three tree surgeons have informed that it is dead, has not come into leaf for a year, it needs to be felled urgently because of the proximity to use of garden and of neighbours (whose house no.11 can be seen behind the tree). Replanting proposal to replace probably in October 2023 under duty to replace. Informative A: Duty to replace applies if a tree in a conservation area is removed because it is dead or presents a risk of serious harm: Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, guidance, para 121. The proposal to plant a replacement tree is greatly appreciated. The replacement tree needs to be an appropriate replacement with a large canopy purple leaved tree, either Copper beech (Fagus sylvatica Purpurea), or Purple Norway maple (Acer platanoides 'Crimson King') to maintain the landscape character of this part of Ponds Road.Informative B: support local nature recovery: dead trees have biodiversity benefits - please retain safe standing stem timber, leave timber lying on site, create habitat log piles and 'dead hedges' with arisings for wildlife and biodiversity.Informative C: This decision by the Council does not exempt the proposed tree works from complying with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) and the Habitat Regulations (2017). This legislation and regulation provides legal protection to the habitat of nesting birds and roosting bats within trees. For further information contact Natural England 0300 060 3900.
