REAR: ONE Sycamore (T1)(ht.approx.15m) FELL and replant under duty to replace. Reason: health and safety, a large sinkhole approx. 3mx3mx3m opened week beg. 22 May 2023 at the base of the sycamore (T1) undermining the tree root plate, the sunken linear approach to the sinkhole starts 6m from the rear of the property, leading to the main sinkhole void by/under the tree trunk, leaving the tree liable to failure, cause of the sinkhole void is unknown at present, sloping site, clay soil, adjacent property has an on-going subsidence claim. After the sinkhole void has been filled with foamed concrete to stabilise, and ground investigations undertaken, the most suitable location for replacement tree planting will be determined, and carried out in the next planting season Oct 2023 ? March 2024.Informative A: if the tree can be retained by repeat crown reduction and ground stabilisation with the foamed concrete infill of the sinkhole void, that would be hugely appreciated for landscape amenity, urban forest canopy to mitigate climate change, wellbeing, wildlife and environmental benefits.Informative B: if it is not possible to retain the tree, the replacement tree planting during Oct 2023-March 2024 is greatly welcomed ref: duty to replace applies if a tree in a conservation area is removed because it is dead or presents a risk of serious harm: Tree Preservation Orders and trees in conservation areas, guidance, para 121.Informative C: replacement species selected from: Indian horse chestnut, sycamore, Robinia, wild service tree, Italian alder, hackberry (Celtis australis), Pride of India/Golden Rain tree (Koelreuteria paniculate), Katsura tree, small leaved lime, Kentucky coffee tree.Informative D: This decision notice by the council does not exempt the proposed tree works from complying with the Wildlife nad Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) and Habitat Regulations (2017).
