Description
T1 Horse Chestnut - To be felled due to damage caused from a mature sycamore tree that fell on it from our neighbours, 72b carr road. This occurred on Sunday evening 21.1.24 during high winds from storm Isha. Our neighbours arranged for the fallen tree to be removed which was blocking access to the shared driveway. The tree surgeon climbed our tree to remove loose branches. He advised that the horse chestnut tree on our property should be cut down and removed for safety reasons based on the following observations.1. soil pocket where branches meet in the base of the crown which would indicate rot and structural weaknesses. 2. cracks in some large branches where they meet the trunk. 3. discolouration in the trunk where the large branch was dislodged indicative of rot. see photo..4. structural weaknesses caused by undercut of the fallen branch which would be an issue for the large branch above. see photo. We would aim to replant another horse chestnut in its place.
