Description

Trees protected under TPO 16 at this site comprise T11 Sycamore and G3 Six Limes.The application proposes the following works:T1 Birch Reduce height by 2m to 10m. Reduce lateral spread by 1m to create 6m radius.T2 to T5 Lime trees Reduce height by 1.5m to 4m. Reduce lateral spread by 1m to create 4m spread to maintain historic pollard framework.Following review of the deposited TPO plan and site inspection undertaken on 2 March 2026, the proposed works subject to this TPO determination relate only to the Lime trees forming Group G3.Council Note:Tree Preservation Order 16 Albert Square protects T11 Sycamore and G3 Six Limes at 15 Albert Square. The current application proposes works only to the Lime trees forming Group G3.The Birch identified in the application is not protected by TPO 16. As the site lies within CA4 Albert Square Conservation Area, the proposed works to the Birch have been considered under section 211 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. The Council raises no objection to the notified works to the Birch and does not propose to make a Tree Preservation Order in respect of that tree.
