Description

Referring to Heritage Tree Specialists' report date September 2023, I am seeking permission to remove the following trees: T1, T3, T9, T11, T12, T13, T25, T27, T28, T29, T30, T31 and T33, relating to development of the siteT1: Eucalyptus, a non native tree in fair conditionT3: Robinia, significant deadwood present, potential danger to pedestrians and vehicles passing along Broad LaneT9: Ash, asymmetrical crown, evidence of decay at stem base. I believe the view from Broad Lane will remain unaltered if this tree is removed. The copse of 6 trees will remain, and be augmented by new native planting, see belowT11 & T12: Witch Hazel, minor wound to main stem on T11. New native trees to replace, see belowT13: Lombardy Poplar, Fair condition, extremely close to dwelling, outgrown its situation. New native to replaceT25: Ash, diseased and likely to fail within next 10 years (permission to remove already granted)T27, Lawson Cypress, previous tree work to top this tree is causing sideways growth. Tree looks unbalanced and is taking light from neighbour's property. New tree planting in rear garden to replace T28: Bay, multistem. New tree planting in rear garden to replaceT29: Yew, minor deadwood present. New tree planting in rear garden to replaceT30: Bay, new trees in rear garden to replaceT33: Western Red Cedar, fair condition, outgrown its situation, new trees in rear garden to replaceProposed new planting: Along the northern boundary of the property, I propose to enhance the existing tree line with native species which are appropriate to the coastal environment and situation, and will also benefit wildlife. Proposed species include: Betula, Corylus, Crataegus, Ilex & Prunus avium. Within the garden itself, to replace the trees I'd like to remove, I propose to plant new trees as above, with the addition of one or two Alnus glutinosa & Sorbus acuparia. One new semi-mature Fagus sylvatica will complete the line along the western boundary.
