Description

Alterations to the Classics - Room 1, as part of a larger scheme to relocate all homeware and furnishing departments throughout the store to the third floor (refer to Design and Access statement for full detail). Works include: upgraded and levelled flooring with improved ramp access; fire-rated partition walls and column cladding; reconfiguration of stockrooms, allowing bay windows to be exposed; installation of dropped plasterboard rafts to house new services and track lighting to be off-set from existing ceiling mouldings; installation of casing to existing beams to house services, light fittings, cable tray and sprinkler routes, allowing for new fire protection. Surviving Edwardian cornicing to be retained in situ, concealed within new plasterboard casing; matching Edwardian cornicing to be fitted to either side of the new casing; upgrade of portal architraves located within doorways to connecting rooms. The proposed works will be wholly internal, with no alterations to the building exterior and minimal alteration to the existing interior. All new partitions, suspended ceilings, and shop fittings will be lightweight and fully reversible.
