Description

A polytunnel was erected in December 2021 to assist with housing of plants during period Physic Garden's glasshouses were dismantled for restoration. Polytunnel is single span 4m x 8.5m and 3m high. It has a galvanised steel frame with diffused polythene covering, and one sliding door to side. It is installed in the south east corner of the Garden, in a non-public area known as the Compost Yard. At time of erection polytunnel was to be a temporary fixture for duration of restoration project, and advice was given that planning permission was not required as it was a temporary structure. The Chelsea Physic Garden has completed the glasshouses restoration, but would like to retain the polytunnel for over-wintering of plant collection, particularly the citrus trees.(Certificate of Lawful Existing Use/Development)
