P2025/1952/TRE
Application Details
Description
Ash (T2). Due to significant decay the tree poses a serious safety risk to others. The tree suffers, amongst other things, from decay in a cavity in a main limb which is approximately 10m up the tree and overhangs a children’s play area. Annexed to this application is a report from an expert arboriculturist, Mr Simon Pryce, dated 19™ April 2025 which sets out the extent of the decay. It is proposed by the Applicant to fell the tree to ground level and to grind the stump to below ground level. It is submitted that vegetation in the immediate vicinity would offset the effect of removal and a tulip tree will be planted in the same place. The impact on environmental amenity is vanishingly small (to nil) compared to the real and considerable safety risk posed to others by retaining the tree. If, in the alternative, the Local Authority is not willing to consent to works to fell the tree a specification for pruning works is annexed to this application marked Exhibit SP1.
