Description

Internal and external refurbishment works for the Main Block & Kitchen Block of Ripon Workhouse Museum to improve visitor experience and stabilise the external fabric. External works to demolish small single storey mid century extension, and to complete fabric repairs at roof level. Fabric repairs include renewal/restoration of windows, replacement of 15 (of 97) windows, repair and relaying of roof to Main Block and Kitchen Block, alongside pointing repairs to wall heads. Internal refurbishment works of ground floor rooms, including the stripping of mid-century finishes and introduction of sympathetic treatments and restoring historic finishes where appropriate. Access to be improved by replacement of a steep ramp between the Main Block and the Kitchen Block with a shallower ramp, and the introduction of a platform lift between ground and first floor.
