Application Details
Description
The application concerns a single tree, T1, Larix decidua (European Larch). The tree has been historically reduced in height and spread. Fractured limbs and evidence of shed limbs. Partially failed limb to north (growing vertically downwards). Deadwood throughout crown. The tree is judged of 'high' viability, 'good' physiological condition and 'fair' structural condition. It is not suggested that it is in imminent need of felling or replacement. The professional arboriculturalist commissioned to assess the tree recommends the following work within a 6 month time frame: "Limb to north at 7.5 metres - a 1.5 metre long stub with vertically hanging branch: Remove vertically hanging branch - retain 1m long stub if stable.""Lowest limb to east at 6.5 metres with tear out wound 2 metres from stem (dead) - remove back to stem.""Limb to east at 7 metres has a potential defect 20cm to 120cm from the stem - flattening could be a sign of decay / point of failure: inspect and carry remedial works if necessary such as reducing / removing limb.""Torn stub to west at 5.5 metres - reduce to 40cm (retaining small live branch).""Stabilise deadwood throughout crown - retain where possible."
