Description

This letter requests a formal Scoping Opinion from the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF) with respect to the scope and methodology of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) undertaken for an upgraded replacement school and residential development on approximately 3.8 hectares (ha) of land at the Phoenix Academy, Shepherds Bush. The findings of the EIA will be reported in an Environmental Statement (ES) which will accompany the detailed planning application.School ComponentRetention and modernisation of the existing school buildings on the eastern portion of the Site, providing state of the art classrooms, technology and energy efficient designs.Delivery of two of the following new school buildings up to 3 storeys in height:Teaching Block approximately 3,500 sqm GIA. An additional education space to accommodate new students, including an early childhood education centre and vocational training facilities.Sports Hall Block approximately 1,000 sqm GIA. A new sports hall designed to meet standards set by Sports England. The Sports Hall Block will serve the existing Phoenix Academy, as well as available for use by the local community and surrounding schools.Selection of outdoor spaces including a central courtyard, sports courts in the north of the Site and other smaller areas throughout the Site and Approximately 36 car parking spaces and cycle parking spaces.Residential ComponentDelivery of up to 360 residential units within six buildings up to 12 storeys in height; Unit mix of studio, one bedroom, two bedroom and three-bedroom properties; Up to 600 cycle spaces; Central north south pedestrian route; and Landscaping and public realm within living streets and fringe gardens.
