Demolition of top story; reconfiguration of existing layout and erection of three-storey extension to provide additional student accommodation; change of use of ground floor from cafe (Use Class E) to reception area ancillary to student accommodation; excavation of part basement for installation of basement sprinkler tanks including installation of ground floor bike store, enclosure of roof terrace, elevational alterations, infilling of colonnade along East Road frontage and upgrades to the plant equipment and associated works. [For reconsultation purposes the description of development has been amended to account for a newly proposed basement beneath the existing building for sprinkler tanks.
