Description

We were contacted in relation to a tree hazard in the woodland in front of our property adjoining Ashley Road. We were told that the hazard could be a potential safety risk which was within falling distance of the highway. Surrey Highways did not specify what the hazard was (such as a tree or only part of a tree). We can only identify one potential hazard in the woodland in front of our property and would like to employ a qualified arboricultural specialist to remove a bough on a beech tree, which partly overhangs the pavement on the Southbound carriageway of Ashley Road, as well as some deadwood above it on the same tree. The bough does not appear to be rotten or diseased. We suspect the beech tree in question is subject to a Tree Preservation Order 38/G19, which was made on 10 April 1970 (see images attached hereto). Before any tree works are done, we should be grateful if an Arboricultural Officer from Epsom and Ewell Borough Council could visit the site and tree and then approve the works. Alternatively, they may review the images I include with this email and provide permission without inspecting the tree.
