Description

This application is for the felling of T1 Lombardy Poplar (394/T2) inside the main gates of St Clements School, Ewell. The Poplar has been reduced in the past and dead wooded on multiple occasions and still imposes a huge risk the the school building, staff members and most importantly the children. Multiple large limbs have snapped out in the past damaging cars parked below both in the train station car park and the staff parking that is directly below the tree. One large limb snapped out in high winds causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to the school impaling the roof of the building. The root system has lifted the tarmac considerably making a trip hazard for staff and students that walk, scooter and ride into the school gates with further issues implanting the main drains causing flooding at the front of the school entrance and blocking the guttering on the school roof. The tree has simply outgrown the space and given all the deciding factors we see no other than to safely fell the tree and replant a more suitable tree given the council approval. A site meeting would be beneficial to show the extent of damages caused over the last few years. All work will comply with BS3998
