Fell large Holly tree from in front of the wall of the property at 24 The Parade including removal of stump and covering cleared area with tarmacadam The tree is not subject to a Tree Preservation Order (confirmed by checking the Local Authority relevant maps) but is sited within the conservation area. Reasons for removal as follows. Obstructing reasonable access to drive: The Holly tree is growing in the driveway of the property and is leaning at an angle westward and across the drive. The position and angle of the tree means it is increasingly obstructing the drive. In order to park a medium size modern vehicle on the drive now requires for wing mirrors to be folded in and even then passing the tree requires the car to be within centimetres of the fence on the other side. Any vehicle higher than a medium sized SUV would not be able to pass the tree. This would mean that an ambulance or other emergency vehicle would be unable to access the drive. Root underpinning infrastructure: The roots of the tree are underpinning the front garden wall. Some work has been undertaken in the past to repair the wall. Depositing leaves and debris onto pathways: The tree is overhanging the drive and the footpath along The Parade. It is also starting to encroach over the alleyway and footpath between 24 and 16 The Parade. It is depositing prickly dead leaves onto the drive and footpaths and periodically also loses twigs and small branches onto the paths (see tree health below). Obstruction of light to property: The tree blocks light from the ground floor rooms of the property at 24 The Parade. Tree health: Whilst the Holly tree is still living it is not in the best of health. It loses a lot of leaves and has, to our knowledge, not produced berries in recent years.
