Description

Tree Preservation Order EL:01/01 - I am requesting work on the T1 Oak situated at the southern apex of the site at 21a Pine Grove. This tree is under Tree Preservation Order EL 01/01. Specifically, we are seeking: 1. Crown Height Reduction: Reduce overall height by up to 3.0 metres, ensuring reduction cuts are made back to suitable secondary growth points to preserve branch taper and avoid stubs. 2. Crown Spread Reduction: Reduce lateral branches by up to 4.0 metres to rebalance and reduce overall canopy spread, again using appropriate pruning points. 3. Epicormic Growth Reduction: The tree has developed extensive epicormic growth along the trunk, up to the mid-canopy. We request removal of this epicormic growth up to a height of 8 metres, We propose removing this growth which will improve both visibility, airflow and the aesthetics form of the tree, without harming its long-term vitality. Rationale: The tree is now of very large size and has significant numbers of branches overhanging neighbouring properties - including a glass conservatory on the western side of the site, and numerous cars in the car park adjacent to the eastern side of the site, which may potentially cause damage if not actioned. There are also branches growing towards the rear of the property (previously cut back) creating potential risk to the skylights and leaving large amounts of debris on the roof and in the gutters. The tree also creates excessive shade on the house and garden so a secondary ambition here would be to promote more light and improve indoor and outdoor living conditions.
