Description
Prior Notification (Agricultural) - A balanced cut and fill earth moving operation to create a clay lined reservoir using the London Clay from beneath the site. No materials will be brought onto or leave the site. Why necessary for agriculture: Following the recent purchase of Capel Hall Farm, investment is required to increase the productivity of the land. This would be achieved by growing high value crops, which have increased requirements for water on the light soils. The current reservoir only offers water for a third of the total farmed area. The reservoir would be filled using the farm winter abstraction (Licence No. 7/35/10/*S/0145/R01). Water is also available from the Felixstowe Hydrocycle, which requires the water is to be stored due to seasonal availability. http://www.felixstowehydrocycle.com/Why designed for agriculture: The reservoir site is adjacent to the existing underground irrigation pipelines, and also close by reservoir No. 1 such that the existing high pressure distribution pumphouse can be utilised. Only a floating (submerged ) pump will be required on the new reservoir which is silent during operation.
