Description

Prior Notification (Agricultural) - A balanced cut and fill earthmoving operation to create an irrigation reservoir. No materials will be brought onto or leave the site. Why necessary for agriculture: The farm specialises in high value vegetable production on light land, this requires irrigation, upto 200mm in the growing season. The existing summer direction abstraction licenses are no longer sustainable and the Environment Agency will not be renewing them, indeed some will be removed in the near future. The planned Shingle Street hydrocycle, supported by the EA will provide high flow winter water that would otherwise be lost to the North Sea. Why designed for agriculture: The site is situated adjacent to 3 Phase power and the existing irrigation pipeline infrastructure.
