Description

Prior Notification (Agricultural) - A balanced cut and fill earthmoving exercise to create an irrigation reservoir using the natural clay from beneath the site. No materials will be brought onto or leave the site.Why necessary for agriculture: Direct summer surface water abstractions are no longer sustainable of licensable , to grow potatoes and onions on this land irrigation is essential. A surface water spring close to the site is the proposed source of water which is currently with the Environment Agency for review. Winter water is reliably available and a previous license is being brought back into use, the application is running in tandem with this planning application.Why designed for agriculture: The water storage is situated close to the abstraction point and carefully situated on the poorer land which has clay beneath it. There is electric power close by.
