Description

Prior Notification Agricultural - A balanced cut and fill earth moving operation to extend the existing reservoir to gain more storage. Why necessary for agriculture: An extension to the reservoir would increase total farm storage capacity to allow more water from the Felixstowe hydro cycle to be stored as well as the grey water that is available to Home Farm from the industrial estate north of the A14. The drought of 2022 highlighted the shortage of water on the farm for the proposed cropping. Abstraction license reforms post 2026 are likely to affect the direct abstraction summer licenses held by Home Farm putting more pressure on winter abstracted stored water. Why designed for agriculture: As a simple reservoir extension all the existing distribution infrastructure can be used.
