Description

Prior Notification (Agricultural) - A balanced cut and fill earthmoving operation to create an irrigation reservoir. The natural clay from the site will be engineered to form a water proof lining. The water stored will be pumped from the IDB pump draining the marshes whcih would otherwise be pumped to waste in the North Sea.Why necessary for agriculture: At present vegetable production on the hihgher light land on the farm is limited by the availability of irrigation water. This development is part of a project to use the water pumped to waste by the Internal Drainage Board in a number of reservoirs in this area which will allow a larger area of irrigated cropping, primarily potatoes, carrots and onions.Why designed for agriculture: The reservoir site is adjacent to the existing infrastructure across the farm.
