Description

Crown reduction/retrenchment pruning to encourage the lower growth to form a more compact and healthy crown. This to be achieved by reducing the height of the tree and the radial crown spread broadly in accordance with the red arc in the marked photograph(ref: 23/1781.TCA annotated photo 1) of the tree taken from the roadside, pruning back to suitable growth points or subordinate branches. The deadwood to be managed in the following way:Brittle/small diameter deadwood should be completely removed via a pulling test. Large diameter deadwood within the arc to be retained with its epiphytic plants, where feasible, with natural fracture pruning used to shorten those dead branches.
