Archaeology The following Archaeological recommendations are as follows: (i) The above ground structural remains of the former outbuildings of Woodville House at the Old Coal Yard site should be fully recorded by a suitably heritage surveyor prior to demolition. (ii) The Design Team to utilise the record to identify and implement opportunities for the retention and reuse of suitable historic building materials as part of the landscaping design. (iii) Following demolition, the sites should be subject to targeted archaeological assessment by way of test excavation, as outlined in Section 3.6 of the Framework and Principles for the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage (DAHGI, 1999). - The archaeological assessment should integrate the results of the record made and analysis of any upstanding built heritage fabric on the site. - The consultant archaeologist / project lead should forward the archaeological Method Statement for comment in advance of commencement to the Archaeology Section. - A report on the results of the test excavation containing a detailed impact statement should be submitted the Archaeology Section. - The results of the testing should inform the archaeological and ultimately the design team site strategy, for example preservation in situ by way of avoidance or redesign, and/or archaeological excavation.
