3. Prior to the commencement of the development, the applicant shall submit for the written approval of the planning authority: a) The proposed pozzolanic lime mortar shall be omitted in its entirety. The applicant shall provide a revised methodology, considering an alternative means of addressing damp that shall be of minimal intervention, that shall retain breathability and primary fabric and shall be based on the level of damp/water ingress evidenced in the site. The most suitable methods of addressing damp include the introduction of French drains within the landscaping directly adjacent to the building, ensuring that the lower ground floor space is adequately ventilated, exposing the base of the wall fabric externally (removing cementitious render and any non-breathable paints), and the use of lime plaster internally., b) The proposed dry lining does not constitute best conservation practice and shall be omitted. c) A revised method statement for the proposed removal of the cementitious screed from the front steps, that shall be to best conservation practice. The steps shall be cleaned via a Doff steam clean. The proposed pointing shall be in NHL2 or 3.5 lime mortar. d) The existing ironmongery to the hall door shall be retained. 1:10 drawings of the proposed doors shall be submitted. Reason: In order to protect the original fabric, character, and integrity of the Protected Structure and to ensure that the proposed works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice.
