2. The development shall comply with the following requirements of the Conservation Section: a) A conservation expert with proven and appropriate expertise shall be employed for the removal of the extant signage, and the installation of the proposed fascia panel. b) Prior to the commencement of development, the developer shall submit revised documentation and drawings to include the following detail for written agreement by the Planning Authority: i. Clarification of materials to be used in the proposed fascia panel ii. Clarification of RAL codes for the proposed signage colours iii. Revised drawings illustrating the fixing details of the new signage at a scale of 1:5 showing how the signage will be affixed to the stone. All fixings shall be through mortar joints and not through stone. iv. Revised drawings illustrating a reduction in the amount of text on the proposed signage v. Revised drawings illustrating a reduction in the size of proposed logos vi. Revised drawings illustrating a reduction in the length of the signage to extend across one bay only vii. Revised drawings illustrating proposed lettering to be 300mm in height as a maximum in line with the Shopfront Design Guidelines: O’Connell Street Area (DCC 2003). Reason: To ensure that the proposed works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice.
