Description

PROTECTED STRUCTURE: We, Parish of The Immaculate Heart of Mary, intend to apply for permission for development at The Church of The Immaculate Heart of Mary at City Quay, Dublin 2, a protected Structure, RPS No. 1854. The Development will consist of the following: • External works to the existing building to include re-pointing with lime to the South elevation and refurbishment of the cast iron gutters. • Sacristy roof works to include 4 no. roof lights and new roof membrane with insulation. • Main roof works to include installation of glazed roof section at apex of roof above altar. • Main entrance area works to include a new gentle slope to the entrance door, removal of existing timber lobby screen and doors, reorganization of entrance area to include new glazed screen doors, new prayer room, relocation of Calvary Scene statue by William Pearse to prayer room, refurbishment of existing marble floor augmented with new stone tile floor finish, and relocation of 1 no. holy water font. • Works to the western corridor to include the installation of new entrance door to school yard, and installation of new accessible confessional. • Works to the Nave to include internal lime plaster repair, redecoration, new carpet finish to aisles and replacement of existing vinyl floor with new, removal of 2 no. existing confessional boxes with Marian Shrine relocated from entrance to wall recess on the east and new opening to west corridor on west, refurbishment and modifications to existing pews, existing 3 ramps at mid Nave to be replaced with new compliant ramps, existing baptismal font to be relocated to centre of Nave. • Works to the sanctuary to include new extended altar area with marble to match existing steps, existing mosaic to be restored and cleaned, new ramp to sanctuary area with marble finish, new oak altar, ambo and celebrants chair, new suspended timber art installation above altar. • Refurbishment of Mayers of Munich stained glass to North façade and above altar. • Internal re-organising of the sacristy to include dry-lining to sacristy walls. • New glass guard rail to choir gallery. • New mechanical and electrical systems throughout the building including new heating system and lighting scheme.
