4. The development shall comply with the following requirements of the Conservation Section: a) A conservation expert with proven and appropriate expertise shall be employed to design, manage, monitor and implement the works to the building and to ensure adequate protection of the retained and historic fabric during the works. In this regard, all permitted works shall be designed to cause minimum interference to the protected structure, its facades structure and/or fabric. b) All works to the protected structure shall be carried out in accordance with best conservation practice and the Architectural Heritage Protection Guidelines for Planning Authorities (2011) and Advice Series issued by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. c) The applicant shall submit the following information to the CO for their written agreement in advance of works commencing: (i) Revised drawings omitting the proposed aluminium cladding. New metal cladding shall be high quality such as zinc, lead or bronze. (ii) A detailed methodology for the proposed structural works to the rear; d) During the course of the development, and in advance of this package of works commencing, the applicant shall submit for the written approval of the planning authority: (i) Samples of the proposed cladding for the lift extension, (ii) Samples of the stone cladding for the proposed fascia, architrave, and (iii) Samples of the proposed bronze lettering and window and door frame. e) All existing original features, in the vicinity of the works shall be protected during the course of the works. f) All repair of original fabric shall be scheduled and carried out by appropriately experienced conservators of historic fabric. Reason: To protect the character, fabric and integrity of the protected structure and to ensure that the proposed works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice with no unauthorised or unnecessary damage or loss of historic building fabric.
