Application Details
Description
2. The following items shall be submitted for the written approval of the Planning Authority in advance of the respective repair/other works commencing, to be agreed by condition/compliance: Methodology for the careful cleaning-off and making good of any scars left on the historic stonework following the removal of the 20th century extension, the protection of existing fabric including windows in the vicinity of the proposed demolition, and the reinstatement of landscaping where the building is removed Include a French drain around the external walls of the Protected Structure and indicate this on the ground floor plan Clarification on why no lime rendering works are proposed to the East and West (side) walls of the Chancel/Sanctuary, and only to the north elevation of the Chancel/Sanctuary as it is considered by the CO that a more holistic approach to the removal of sand / cement render across the structure as a whole would be beneficial for the fabric of the building. The new replacement cast iron RWP and the additional RWP close to the chancel/sanctuary shall be positioned the same distance from the respective adjacent corners (as is drawn) – the dimension shall be indicated in both locations. The proposed additional RWPs on the 1:50 drawings are barely visible – the applicant shall adjust the line weight on the drawing. All fixings straps/lugs for replacement and new RWPs and Gutters shall be indicated and fixings shall be located to coincide with existing joints Confirmation if a new gulley will be provided for the 2no. new RWP locations or alternative drainage arrangement is required. Clarification on why the position of the RWP is different on both sides of the vestry (Proposed West Elevation, Drawing No. 23-26-P-402) Marked-up photographs and drawings shall be submitted to indicate all surviving historic and replacement glass, and all proposed timber repairs, (including proposed protection of the Harry Clarke Stained Glass windows if this item is intended to be executed in these works). A reflected ceiling plan shall be submitted for the Protected Structure The applicant shall ensure that all key references/identifiers for features such as windows/doors/room reference numbers etc. are legible on A3 PDF drawings accompanying the reports submitted The applicant shall submit proposals for temporary measures that shall be put in place to halt any further leaks or water ingress through the roof, which will continue to have an adverse impact on the condition of the interior – this may be considered under a future Section 5 Application. Reason: In order to protect the original fabric, character and integrity of the Protected Structure at the Royal Hibernian Military Chapel, and to ensure that the proposed works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice.
