EXPP: PROTECTED STRUCTURE: A. Replacement of mass-concrete coping - The parapet facing onto Merrion Square is currently capped with a mass-concrete coping. This coping is an inappropriate detail for the building and has begun to deteriorate. It is proposed to replace this with a traditional granite coping. The coping stones will be Wicklow granite, hand dressed, set on a lead DPM and mechanically restrained using hidden fixings. Please see attached drawing PD304 for details. B. Masonry cleaning - The granite facing to the ground floor, and the granite steps and street-facing plinth wall (see attached drawing) have light atmospheric soiling. It is proposed to address this using pressurised steam cleaning (Stonehealth 'DOFF') and potentially a low-abrasive high-pressure water cleaning (Stonehealth 'TORC').
