3. The developer shall comply with the following conservation requirements of the Planning Authority: b. The applicant shall submit the following information for the written agreement of the Planning Authority in advance of works commencing: i. Method statements for (a) the raking of the recently installed cementitious pointing from the chimneystacks. The method statement shall ensure that historic brickwork is not damaged in the process of removal; (b) the gentle cleaning of brickwork; (c) method statement and specifications for wig pointing to the façade and chimneystacks, and for brick repairs if necessary; (d) samples of brick cleaning, brick repairs if necessary, and repointing shall be provided for inspection and written approval of the Conservation Officer. ii. An experienced specialist lime mortar pointing contractor shall be engaged to carry out the chimneystack raking and the required repointing to the chimneystacks and facade. The applicant shall provide five examples of Protected Structures of a similar nature where the specialist contractor completed wig pointing. iii. Marked and annotated elevation drawings at 1:50 scale and decorative details at 1:10 of gates, railings, handrails and balusters to show the extent of proposed historic ironwork repairs. Drawings shall be accompanied by method statement for the refurbishment of railings shall be provided for written approval of the Conservation Officer. iv. An experienced specialist ironworking contractor shall be engaged to carry out ironwork repairs. The applicant shall provide five examples of Protected Structures of a similar nature where the specialist contractor has completed the restoration of railings. v. Replacement rainwater goods shall be cast iron. Cast-aluminium rainwater goods shall be omitted. vi. The proposed painting of the previously unpainted ruled-and-lined render to the rear elevation and return shall be omitted. vii. The shape of the stilted-segmental-headed door opening to the side elevation shall be retained. The head of the window shall not be squared. viii. Where new joinery finishes are required, they shall be based on historic examples from the Protected Structure. Drawings of replacement joinery features shall be presented at 1:20 or 1:10 scale depending on the level of detail of the feature. The location of the proposed replacement joinery shall be marked on a floor plan and/or room elevation.
