3. Conservation (pre-commencement) i) Prior to the stripping of the existing unoriginal roof coverings, the applicant shall submit a record drawing, schedule and photograph of all surviving original ridge tiles and finials (which are not extant throughout the entirety of the roof) and proposed new replacement tiles to match existing. ii) The applicant shall provide a record drawing of all historic roof timbers (rafters, sarking boards etc.) and indicate where timber repairs are required when the roof coverings have been stripped off and the timbers have been inspected. v) The applicant shall indicate the location of all existing downpipes on elevations and plans, and indicate whether any additional drops are required (noting the observations in the structural engineer’s report item 2.2 page 5). Reason: To protect the fabric, character and integrity of the gate lodges, which lie within the curtilage of the Botanic Gardens, which comprises a conservation area, and contains a number of protected structures.
