7. The applicant is requested to comply following Conservation Section requirements: (i) Photographic and drawn record of the historic boundary wall against which the proposed extension will be located, and 1:10/1:5 details of the junction between the proposed extension and the boundary wall and adjoining property as this gap will require good waterproofing and regular maintenance. (ii) Brick cleaning and pointing: Samples of materials and site exemplars of site workmanship shall be provided for the inspection by and written approval of the Conservation Section in advance of the works commencing, including cleaning of brickwork (noting the Conservation Section would prefer that an alternative low-intensity cleaning method such as steam cleaning shall be considered subject to approval of sample), repairs to brickwork (if necessary prior to repointing) and re-pointing of brickwork, noting the Conservation Section Preference for NHL 2 lime mortar. (iii) The Conservation Section shall be given the opportunity to inspect the brick façade from the scaffolding prior to raking out of the brick pointing when any additional defects are identified at close quarters in advance of the works commencing, and while the re-pointing works are in progress. (iv) The applicant shall prepare and submit to the Conservation Section a record drawing cross-referenced where required to marked-up photographs of the brick façade to record the condition of the brickwork and any repairs required, following a detailed inspection from the scaffold at close quarters, prior to commencing the re-pointing works. The applicant shall identify by inspection of the façade for any remnants of original pointing to inform the appropriate re-pointing method for the building based on remnants observed. This shall be accompanied by a specification and methodology for all cleaning and/or repointing of brickwork/stonework on the subject site, works to be executed by a specialist contractor with proven conservation expertise in accordance with best conservation practice. (v) Historic windows: The applicant shall submit a window schedule which records all surviving historic glazing, or replacement glass, with a clear statement on where slim profiled double glazing units will be installed. Where historic glass survives, it is possible to install secondary glazing. The installation of slim profiled (6mm-6.5mm) double glazing may be considered where well-detailed. The new frames should have a traditional putty finish to the exterior. Details of the proposed new glazing should also be submitted. The applicant shall be satisfied that any proposed slim-lite glass replacements conform to EU directives. Details shall be provided of the small number of proposed new tilt and turn windows in new opes where indicated. (vi) Submit a door schedule of all historic and other doors, and proposed repairs to same. (vii) Schedule of conservation repairs where these are required following modification works and inspections of defects at close quarters of e.g. lath and plaster ceilings, historic floor boards, joinery etc. (viii) Details of services routes where existing routes cannot be utilised. (ix) A record drawing shall be submitted clearly indicating all proposed repairs to the roof, including fixing details for the proposed photovoltaic panels on the inner face of the roof. Any replacement slates where required shall be on a like-for-like basis in terms of colour, size, thickness and texture and quality (Likely to be Blue Bangor Slates). Reason: In the interest of protecting the special character of the property.
