Description
14. The original wigged pointing and colour wash to the façades shall be retained and protected. The Conservation Officer shall be given the opportunity to inspect the brick façades prior to construction works commencing on site in order to identify brick pointing defects at close quarters and to agree a preferred solution to any brick pointing repairs commencing, which shall be led by best conservation principles. Samples of materials and site exemplars of site workmanship shall be provided for inspection by and written approval of the Conservation Officer in advance of the works commencing. The applicant shall submit details of five recent examples of specialist brick re-pointing works carried out by the proposed contractor on protected structures of similar architectural significance in Dublin and associated references to ensure that the contractor has the requisite expertise for these works. Reason: In order to protect the original fabric, character and integrity of the front brick façade of this Protected Structure.
