3. Prior to the commencement of the development the applicant shall submit for the written approval of the Planning Authority, the following details a) Plans at a scale of 1:20 that show the proximity of the bottom step of the proposed staircase to the top step of the historic staircase. b) Details of any strengthening works to the top landing to the existing historic staircase to accommodate the weight of the new staircase. It would be preferable that any strengthening works are carried out from above rather than below, carefully lifting historic floor boards and temporarily removing timber skirting’s. Reason: To ensure that the integrity of this protected structure is maintained and that all works are carried out in accordance with best conservation practice.
