Description
1no. Fagus sylvatica - Common Beech identified as no.1 on the plan located in the drying grounds. To fell to ground level to make safe. A large limb 600mm in diameter fell from the dead trunk on Friday 20th October. There is fungal growth to the base of the trunk which is still very substantial in weight and adjacent (1 metre away) to the busy pathway from the main car park to the great lawn. The tree was surveyed by Tim Bryant after my original concerns about this tree in September 2020 but I have real concerns now that this dead trunk is unsafe for pedestrians to be walking by.2no. Taxus baccata - Yew indentified as no.2 to the south elevation of the gatehouse. To reduce the crown of these by approx 2 to 2.5 metres to remove branches that are rubbing against the stonework of the gatehouse and also to make the yews uniform in size and shape. We will replace the Beech with a 12-14cm standard Fagus sylvatica.
