1. Partial crown reduction/crown lifting not to exceed 20% volume, equivalent to a maximum 2m reduction all round.Pruning may include the removal of 'soft growth' on the outer /lower parts of the tree crown, no top height reduction, to reduce the spread of the trees into the garden area eg shortening or removal of secondary branches under 75mm diameter, not main structural branches over this size. Pruning work must be done evenly to maintain the tree's natural form and symmetry2. Crown thinning maximum 20% volume: This may include pruning of light growth within the tree crown to reduce overall density, eg epicormic growth and light secondary branches under 75mm diameter. Material should be removed systematically and evenly throughout the tree resulting in a well spaced and balanced branch structure - this must not result in over thinning the centre of the tree or 'lion-tailing' of main branches .
