Description
Proposed TPO Work: Crown Thinning and Deadwood Removal. Tree G1 APAS code 49-061 Trees: Two mature beech trees (Fagus sylvatica), approximately 20–25 m tall, trunks 2.55 m apart, lowest branches ~5 m above ground. Proposed Works: Crown thinning: Remove approximately 10–20% of inner canopy to improve light penetration to the front living room and allow better airflow, while maintaining the natural shape and health of the trees. Deadwood removal: Remove any dead, dying, or dangerous branches to reduce risk of falling debris. Reason for Works: The trees are healthy and structurally sound. They cast significant shade over the front of the house, including the main living room. Crown thinning will improve light without harming the trees’ amenity value. Deadwood removal addresses potential branch drop hazards and is a standard safety and maintenance measure. The gap between trunks is 2.55 m, which allows vehicle access but is narrow for a larger SUV (Land Rover Discovery). The proposed works do not involve lowering branches for clearance, but selective thinning and deadwood removal will maintain safe and practical access while preserving tree health. Notes: No reduction of height or major canopy alteration is requested. Works will be carried out by a qualified arborist using appropriate techniques to preserve tree health.
