Description
Consent to remove four Scots Pine trees located within the grounds of the affected properties. Over recent years these trees have significantly outgrown the space available to them and are now causing multiple issues that present ongoing risks to both property and public safety. The root systems have expanded to a point where they are causing damage to nearby property foundations. In addition, the trees are shedding large volumes of needles and debris, which are regularly blocking gutters and contributing to damp issues within the adjoining buildings. There is also a notable fire risk due to the accumulation of dry pine needles around the properties, particularly during extended dry periods. Several branches within the crowns have already snapped and fallen, and further dead or weakened branches remain present. The trees are also developing a lean towards the neighbouring properties, increasing the likelihood of failure during adverse weather. With the effects of climate change, the area is experiencing more frequent high‑wind events. These trees have shown increased branch drop during such conditions, and the risk of further failure is now considered significant. Given the proximity of the trees to residential homes, the potential for injury or damage is substantial. For these reasons, I recommend the full removal of all four Scots Pine trees. This action is necessary to protect the safety of the residents, prevent further structural damage, and eliminate the ongoing hazards associated with these trees. All works will be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 – British Standard for Tree Work, ensuring best practice, safety, and compliance with industry guidelines. Replanting with more suitable species can be arranged in accordance with council requirements.
