Description

T1 – Oak Following the recent failure of an adjacent mature tree during storm conditions, T1 has become significantly more exposed, particularly given its proximity to Manchester Road. The loss of neighbouring canopy has altered wind dynamics and crown balance, increasing sail effect and loading. It is proposed to undertake a moderate crown reduction of up to 3–4 metres, reducing the height and spread to suitable secondary growth points, while retaining the tree’s natural form and structural integrity. Works will be undertaken to: • Rebalance the crown following the loss of adjacent support • Reduce end-weight and wind loading • Improve crown symmetry and structural stability • Mitigate risk associated with increased exposure All reduction cuts will be made to appropriate growth points in accordance with BS3998:2010, with no removal exceeding one-third of branch length, and overall live crown reduction kept within acceptable limits to avoid physiological stress. T2 – Sycamore T2 is exhibiting crown imbalance and lateral overextension, with branches overhanging the driveway and encroaching toward the property. It is proposed to carry out a light to moderate crown reduction of approximately 1–2 metres overall, with selective lateral reductions of up to 3 metres where required to manage overextension and restore crown balance. The proposed works aim to: • Reduce overextended lateral limbs • Improve crown balance and stability • Increase light penetration and air movement • Reduce wind resistance and ongoing management requirements • Ensure the tree remains safe, healthy, and appropriately controlled within its setting All works will be undertaken in line with BS3998:2010, ensuring cuts are made back to suitable secondary branches, preserving the natural crown outline and maintaining tree vitality.
