Description

Tag 3715 Pine, Pinus spp. 70cm DBH, 14m Height Low resonance at base. Large cavity on stem North at 0.5m AGL, 70cm long, reactive growth (doorposts) attempted but cracking on west side behind growth. Saprotrophic fungus in cracks and cavities around stem. Phototropic lean towards road. Historic limb failure in crown and hanging failed bough. Surviving crown misshapen from limb loss and competition, multiple potential weak limbs. Additional cracks and bark wounds on east side at 0.5m continuing to 2m AGL, evidence of active decay coming from wound, boring insects observed within wound. Lower crown in decline. Due to target occupancy and size of tree and number of defects recommend fell. Tag 3716 Silver Birch, Betula pendula 31cm DBH, 14m Height Tree in decline, in range of main road and path. Very poor CSD. Extensive deadwood throughout crown. Recommendation: fell tree Tag 3718 Norway Maple, Acer platanoides Deadwood in crown over footpath Recommendation: remove major deadwood over 24mm diameter over footpath Tag 3719 Laurel, Laurus nobilis Decay and cavity in stem, phototropic growth away from property and set in shrub bed away from path. Broken decayed limb has failed and entering property. Canopy touching shed roof but not causing damage, resident has right to prune to boundary with proper conservation area application/permission Recommendation: remove broken limb Tag 3723 Cherry, Prunus spp. 69cm DBH, 9m Height, 15.5m crown spread diameter Ganoderma applanatum on buttress North side, small, sounding okay. Additional historic FFB NW on stem, potentially cushion fungus (Phellinus pomaceus). Recommend reinspect annually to monitor development of additional FFBs and vitality of crown. Major deadwood over path, extensive minor deadwood and some hangars. Major limb over path NW with bark wounds on union and 1m up the limb, recommend remove defective limb back to sound wood, Conservation area application required. Recommend remove deadwood over and in fall of high footfall path. Unions of first major boughs included, end weight reduction not recommended as works will remove majority of foliage on tree, reinspect annually. Bark lift/cracking on flared buttress, indicative of quick growth period. Recommendation: Annual inspections in leaf to check for crown vitality and FFB development, remove deadwood over paths, remove damaged limb NW over path.
